Milligan Residence

Harmonious style with improved energy efficiency

The design involved an extensive remodel and addition to a historic structure that had numerous renovations and additions added to the original building. The objective was to create a harmonious, single style to the exterior, while also improving the overall energy efficiency of the home.

Installed energy saving components as part of the remodel that included upgrading to higher-than-code required insulation and caulking, thus sealing the house for airtightness. Installed high-efficiency heating and air conditioning, along with interior air to air exchanger for improved indoor air quality.

EXTERIOR MATERIALS:

This historic home is located in a high fire risk area, so new exterior materials were non-combustible. We used hardi-shingles, stained to give an old-style feeling and used corten steel roofing that rusts to give the beautiful color of old metal.
